Can I drink a bottle of Chardonnay which is open but resealed and a few years old?

Well a few years back maybe two at maximum I bought a bottle of special chardonnay champagne which cost me a lot and I do not want to waste it, and I’m having the urge to drink. It was opened but then closed again. Can I drink it?

It should be safe to drink. It might not taste as well since it has been exposed to air. Hopefully the seal was tight and didn’t let the champagne react with too much air.

NOOOOO…. once you open it, you have a few days at most even if you put the cork back on… it has to do with the air now inside the bottle. when wine makers bottle wine they use some technique to get the air out to prevent spoiling

You can try but it will most likely be vinegar by now.
Any wine should be drank as soon as it is opened (or 1 – 2 days at maximum) even if resealed. It won’t hurt you but it won’t taste nice either.
Champagne should never be re-sealed, should be drank inside the hour.

If it’s a sparkling wine (Champagne has to come from the designated area in France), and it’s been opened then I guarantee that you didn’t use the original stopper to close it again. You must have used the special stoppers they make for sparkling wine. If you have used this, then the fizz may be ok for a day maybe two but no more. If it is champagne then it will have been labelled Blanc de Blanc as chardonnay is the only white grape allowed to be used in the production of champers. the other two grapes allowed are both black grapes called Pinot Noir and Pinot Muenier.

No.
All the bubbles will be gone and the bit of air it has been exposed to will have caused it to oxidize (like how an apple goes off after being exposed to air). You should worry about any bacteria, etc. that may have gotten into it after you broke the initial seal, particularly if it wasn’t refrigerated.
Consider it a loss and don’t open Champagne until you are ready to drink it next time.
Good luck.
